Continuing efforts for design and permitting of the mill pond dredging project, which aims to remove roughly 30,000 cubic yards of accumulated sediments within mill pond to improve nitrogen attenuation. Located on cape cod, bcwc utilizes education, monitoring, mitigation, and advocacy to address the water quality issues facing the five watersheds located in the 76 square miles of the town of barnstable. Currently the town is implementing phase 1 (years 0 10) of the comprehensive wastewater management plan (cwmp). phase 1 consists of 18 individual sewer collection system projects, and additional sewer extensions, that will result in roughly 90 miles of new sewer infrastructure.

To the greatest extent possible, the water quality of barnstable's freshwater water bodies should be maintained to standards that support living organisms appropriate for the lake or pond, and allow recreation for the surrounding neighborhood, town residents, and other recreational users. Continuing to build on 20 years of water quality monitoring in the three bays estuary, bcwc has expanded the geographic scope of its education, monitoring, mitigation, and advocacy programs to protect our ponds, rivers, bays, and estuaries.
