Program Spotlight Arts Ignite Waterloo Arts Ignite Co founded by artists dick scalan and evan todd, artsinsideout has worked to connect a community in johannesburg with arts education for over 10 years. this summer, arts ignite was excited to continue this international program in south africa from june 30th through july 17th. These options include acting, storytelling, music, dance, visual arts, and stage management. the summer program concludes in a presentation based on a chosen theme that is open to the public, celebrating the work and creativity of the entire community.
Program Spotlight Arts Ignite Waterloo Summer Camp Arts Ignite Artsinsideout is a program that connects visual and performing artists with communities impacted by the aids epidemic, such as youth in johannesburg, south africa. To me, being an artist is a special way of thinking and seeing the world. i wanted to become an art teacher because i wanted to give others the abilities to share their vision. but it turns out nothing has inspired me more as an artist than teaching it to young minds. We transform the lives of young people through the arts. founded to help young people develop agency, build critical life skills, and experience the joy of creative expression. Every arts ignite program is a collaboration. we work within our partners’ existing structures to design a customized, engaging approach that meets each young person where they are—and invites them to discover their unique strengths.
Creative Activity Kit Program Spotlight Arts Ignite We transform the lives of young people through the arts. founded to help young people develop agency, build critical life skills, and experience the joy of creative expression. Every arts ignite program is a collaboration. we work within our partners’ existing structures to design a customized, engaging approach that meets each young person where they are—and invites them to discover their unique strengths. Each summer, the residents of nkosi’s haven are invited to choose the area of the arts they are most excited about. these options include acting, storytelling, music, dance, visual arts, and. This program creates a bridge between visual and performing artists and communities across the world to serve as role models and mentors to young people, teaching both art and life skills. Healing pieces is a collaborative multi year arts and engagement initiative led by smu meadows school of the arts’ ignite arts dallas. this initiative is specifically interested in how architecture, green space, urban planning and community development can lead to transformation of the city. Each year, artsinsideout creates theater experiences for young people and mothers in johannesburg, south africa who have been impacted by hiv aids and gender based violence. these women and children own the creative process and build a show alongside tas from both south africa and the us.
