I followed some artists for years and watched their style develop with envy, but i realized later in life what actually happens. when you develop your skills, you tend to take what you like and leave the rest. You just need to know some very simple rules of basic geometry. if you start by drawing complex forms like anatomy, drawing from reference (and don't get me wrong i think pretty much everybody does to some degree), you're kinda tackling things backwards. Drawing is a bit like language learning it's slow and requires a lot of practice, and even if you get fluent there's always more to learn. even after six or ten or twenty years of drawing, you'll have more potential. We tackle drawing in a logical, analytical fashion inspired by concept artists and industrial designers, focusing on technical skills that can be developed with hard work and determination. We went over stuff like shapes, converting shapes to forms, how to know where to put light, how to draw men's and women's hair, composition, and more. … more.
