Planetary Science Major

Planetary Science Major In the planetary science program, professors at florida tech work on space weather, solar physics, planetary geology, exoplanets, astrobiology and the science of human space flight. The department of earth, environmental, and planetary sciences (eeps) offers majors in earth science, environmental science, and planetary science. the curriculum is broad, and the requirements are flexible enough to accommodate diverse needs and interests.

Planetary Science Major Students will apply methods and knowledge from mathematics, geosciences, chemistry, biology, astronomy and physics, and through laboratory experiences and coursework they will both learn to explore the earth and to use telescopes to obtain astronomical data. Departmental programs apply physics, chemistry, and mathematics to the study of the earth and planets in order to understand the processes that are active in the earth's interior, oceans, and atmosphere, as well as the interiors and atmospheres of other planets. Undergraduate students with a strong preparation in planetary science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, astronomy, engineering, geology or geochemistry are especially encouraged to apply. applicants must have outstanding records in the relevant basic sciences and mathematics. As a planetary science major, you will explore the formation, evolution, and dynamics of planets, moons and other celestial bodies in the solar system and beyond.
