Planet indonesia has been at the forefront of biodiversity conservation in west kalimantan, indonesia since 2014. our award winning holistic approach to biodiversity conservation addresses both the symptoms and drivers of indonesia’s greatest biodiversity challenges. Rich in culture and wildlife, indonesia is one of the world’s biodiverse hotspots and hosts 40 million people living in rural areas who rely on biodiversity for their subsistence and livelihood needs. With its vast archipelago spanning tropical rainforests, mangroves, and coral reefs, indonesia is home to some of the most iconic, beloved, and ecologically unique species.

Now we are on the precipice, taking our work to scale across indonesia, supporting more communities than ever before. over the next two years, we want to scale our work to help 23,000 more families and protect 1.25 million hectares of vital ecosystems. As we sit and reflect, it feels almost surreal to think that it has been ten years since we founded planet indonesia. a decade ago, we began with a simple but profound question: how could we put communities back in the lead, giving them control over their social and ecological futures?.
