Pixels Movie Review Spotlight Report Despite scattered anachronisms (who's checking) columbus' pixels is sorely underrated, it has great visuals and perfect comedy timing. it also has subtext about today's games. it's very entertaining, even if your 're not a retro gamer or and 8 bit lover, it still comes recommended. A sci fi comedy about video game lovers fighting alien attacks with classic characters. rated pg 13 for violence, language, sex, and drinking. see parent and kid reviews, ratings, and more. Pixels bungles its cool premise with adam sandler’s stale happy madison tropes, but it’s the size of the opportunity that has been missed for sandler to reinvent himself that truly makes this a disappointment. just watch the original short film, we guarantee you’ll have a much better time. Pixels has a few inspired action sequences and a handful of laugh out loud moments, but overall the special effects are surprisingly average — and the lazy acting by adam sandler, the shameless mugging by kevin james and the hammy performance by brian cox don’t help.

Based on patrick jean’s short film from 2010, where invaders from space adopt the form of 8 bit video games (such as pac man, tetris and, well, space invaders), this familiar nostalgia saturated yarn relies on our 1980s throwback obsessed culture to breed interest. Dove review “pixels” is made for today’s audience, with some nostalgia thrown in for the people of the ’80s. the film features songs by hall and oates, queen, and other well known artists, as well as the popular arcade games of the ’80s, including pac man, donkey kong, and centipede. ‘pixels’: film review the ghosts of video games past arise in chris columbus' slice of '80s nostalgia, starring adam sandler, kevin james and michelle monaghan. by todd mccarthy.
