5th Of Sla Development Of Learner Language Pdf Second Language This study investigates whether second language (l2) learners’ language development and accuracy in production are comparable across oral and written modalities on the basis of pienemann ’s processability theory (pt). The first part of this chapter deals with the development of cerebral dominance, and explores research bearing on lenneberg's hypothesis that child adult differences in second language acquisition are due to the completion of the development of cerebral dominance, hypothesized by lenneberg to occur at around puberty. The field of second language acquisition (sla) studies is characterized by two different traditions. one tradition is linguistic and focusses on the process by which learners build up their linguistic knowledge of the second language (l2). In an attempt to bring to the forefront some effective strategies for l2 oral skill development, we undertook a review of the literature in the areas of oral proficiency, academic language development, and l2 teaching and learning strategies. The purpose of this literature review is to examine theory and research that has addressed what constitutes effective pedagogy for the acquisition of a second language (l2) in a classroom context. Our review of answers to these questions will be followed by a discussion of what we know about the most advanced state of l2 learning (or “near native” competence), including what features are likely to be mastered last, and how ultimate achievement levels relate to individual and social goals. This mixed method study seeks to explore the determinants of second language (l2) learning by examining the interconnection of several factors such as cognitive, affective, social, and individual variables, and how their influence impacts the language acquisition process.
