In this work, we propose an original approach to the procedural modelling of streets : streetgen. we start from rough gis data (paris road axis); thus, our modelling is based on a real road network. then, we use a basic hypothesis and a simple road model to generate more detailed data. We present a novel semantic approach that combines a patch based method with the advantages of a parametric method for the customized generation of fictive road networks. We present a model for growing procedural road networks in and close to cities. the main idea of our paper is that a city cannot be meaningfully simulated without taking its neighbourhood into account. With the positions of nuclei of city growth in mind, we select positions out of which new minor roads can grow. we then grow these new minor roads using the appropiate minor road pattern. for each pair of neighbouring cities, we keep track of the total traffic between them.
