In this article, trying to examine the consequences of departmental isolation in health care institutions and propose strategies for breaking down silos and fostering integration.
Breaking Down Silos In Healthcare Health care silos which block communication between emergency departments, primary care practices, dialysis units and other functions are bad for patients and society. Workplace silos may be commonplace in healthcare organizations, but the author of this article argues that they can and should be broken. this article defines workplace silo and explains how the highly departmentalized nature of healthcare delivery creates a silo breeding ground. Our very infrastructure is designed to fragment our services and create multiple, competing agenda. this situation is daunting in itself, but our systems of care grow more complex each year with multiple services, new technology and many healthcare sites that make up a healthcare system.
