The africa smart and sustainable cities index aims to provide a comprehensive assessment of the progress african cities are making towards becoming smart and sustainable. The rapid city profiling stage under the action planning phase includes 4 steps: (i) collecting data and information; (ii) conducting city visit with city profiling workshop; (iii) preparing city assessments; and (iv) compiling city diagnostics report. Here, we have highlighted the top 10 smart city projects highlighted in this article exemplifying how africa is not only catching up with global urban trends but pioneering its brand of context aware, people centered smart cities.
