The next session of the 'beyond border: breakfast debate' will take place on 10th march 2022 and focus on the role of border cities in promoting territorial development of border regions. This pivotal report, scheduled for publication in february 2024, provides a comprehensive inventory of potential risks along eu borders and identifies existing tools for their prevention and management. This commentary advocates for a more deliberate use of terminology and corresponding concepts. moreover we aim to stimulate reflection among researchers and policymakers on how cross border interaction is framed, and how aligning terminology with reality can support more integrated responses.
