Union aid abroad – apheda works with over 49 partner unions and organisations in thirteen locations across southeast asia, the pacific, the middle east, and southern africa. In an era of overlapping crises, this kind of worker led organising offers a hopeful and practical model—not just for nepal, but for union movements around the world, including in australia. This project aims to secure decent work and trade union rights in the informal coal sector and the renewable energy sector. it seeks to ensure that trade unions are included in the decision making process for a just transition and build union strength throughout this process. This program facilitates partnerships with national union centres and supporting organisations to strengthen the capacity of trade unions to engage with climate mitigation and adaptation initiatives across key sectors in response to the climate crisis.
