Open Caching Content Management Function
Open Caching Content Management Function The content management function provides open caching network operators, such as a streaming platform, to manage content across all open caching nodes within the network. this can mean purging content, loading a cache with content in anticipation of demand (pre positioning), and validating content. Opencache is an open source distributed content caching platform. currently in development, opencache 's operation is transparent to requesting clients. through the use of openflow, requests are redirected dynamically and on the fly.
Open Caching Content Management Function Open caching provides a way for isps to stream content “through the middle” of their network, rather than over the top, and to add value by improving the overall quality of the consumers’ streaming experience. Open caching is a framework designed to improve the efficiency and performance of content delivery networks (cdns). it does this by allowing multiple cdns to work together more effectively, sharing resources and optimizing the delivery of content to end users. Open caching is a suite of api specifications developed in the svta which define an open architecture for content delivery between content owners, isps, & cdns. Open caching systems minimize the network distance between the content and the viewer, which can eliminate rebuffering rates. this seamless streaming experience is critical for maintaining viewer engagement, especially during live events or premieres of highly anticipated content.

The open caching controller manages the communication of configuration, content placement, lifecycle management, logging, and security data with third party systems. This document outlines the motivation, key use cases, and architecture for a cache management interface to facilitate integration between content providers and content delivery network providers (cdns) on one side and open caching providers on the other. This document describes the functional specification of the open caching content management interface and the functionality requirements from the sp open caching system.
