Intubation Set Golden Star Surgical Joseph o’dwyer began his intubation work in 1880. his initial idea was to deploy a wire spring within the larynx. he quickly realized the diphtheria pseudomembrane would form around the spring and continue to occlude the airway. Nyfh physician joseph o’dwyer, m.d. (1841 to 1898), developed an intubation set (lower right) to prevent lethal asphyxiation from diphtheria and to circumvent the need for pediatric tracheostomy, which was associated with a high mortality risk.
