I still remember my first ball python (python regius). i had already kept a few snakes, but they were all quite nippy. so, i was quite happy to pick up a ball python, as the species is famous for being gentle. on the way home from the pet store, i stopped to pick up my little sister from school. This is my first snake, a normal ball python named athena. when i first got her, she was smaller than the palm of my hand, and i immediately fell in love with how cute and friendly she was. athena holds a special place in my heart; she has made me appreciate the beauty of a simple ball python, regardless of the various morphs available.

I rescued odin at approximately 6 months old (according to previous owner who didn’t really seem to know for certain) in january. he’s gained about 56 grams since i’ve had him and i’m not sure if this is a healthy weight gain or if he’s gaining too rapidly.
