Under the ocean decade’s vision 2030 process, sustainable ocean planning has been identified as an umbrella framework for marine policies towards achieving a sustainable and equitable ocean economy. the aim is to accelerate collective action for an ocean that benefit people, nature and economy. The resulting implementation plan, which is the result of a highly inclusive two year preparation process involving thousands of stakeholders, will guide the ambitious endeavor represented by the decade, and will evolve with time reflecting new possibilities, opportunities, and challenges.
