Oc First Attempt At A Homebrew Monster Any Suggestions R Dnd When i make maps i start by thinking about the plate tectonics and ocean currents. this gives a basis to a continent or island so it looks natural. you don't need to know loads of geography but it's worth looking at a few videos on fictional map design. I hand drew a map for a campaign i run, but i felt the world came more alive after i drew it online. it's also nice since you can go back and change things around if say an ancient dragon comes and ravages a town or if your players ravage said town. This is my first real attempt at making a map for my campaign, so i'm taking it slow and filling in as my players advance through it. in the campaign so far my players enlisted in the royal army and were shipped out to this new continent. Inspired by u growtth and in an ongoing attempt to be a better dm, i tried my hand at map making. previously, i've relied on one of my players, who is super talented and does an awesome job, to make my campaign and town maps.
