Hera’s role in steel construction is to: be the national centre for steel construction based product design, manufacturing technology, inspection and quality assurance. We are in the final stages of preparing our new audit regime for approval and certification by the green building council. once we have achieved this milestone, our members audited and certified under this regime will be able to submit responsible products values towards green star rated buildings. As hera has long maintained, it will take a joint effort by the public and private sectors to steadily reduce the carbon emissions of the building and construction industry in aotearoa, particularly in relation to the role of steel.
