Beit Sefer B Aviv B Yachad באביב ביחד Sunday Relay Ann Arbor This week we will study the parashat noach, portion of year 1, where we will see the story of noach (noah), a righteous man who walked faithfully with elohim. we will learn how yahweh decided to cleanse the earth, but he showed his great mercy by giving instructions to build an ark. These verses relate noach’s departure from the ark and yahweh’s covenant with mankind. noach offers sacrifices to yahweh elohim, who promises not to destroy the earth with a flood again. the rainbow covenant is established as a sign of this promise. Sefer Beit Yisrael Today we bring the activity of “noah’s ark and the flood”. we hope that you, and especially your sons and daughters, will enjoy this effort. for it is through the study of the scriptures that we can come to understand the love and care that yahweh has always had for us. In parasha noach, and continuing with the book of genesis, today we will study the story of noah and the covenant that yah’elohim made with him and with every living thing that survived the waters of the flood. After saving a few of every species on earth, yah'elohim made a covenant with noah, and placed the sign of his covenant in the sky for the remembrance of all mankind. today we bring the activity of "elohim's covenant with noah". In the parashat b’reisheet, portion of the year 3, chosen by elohim, we will see the genealogy of adam, from seth to noah, where we will be able to read about the longevity of these patriarchs. Why does sefer breishit devote so much attention to "sifrei toladot" (list of genealogies)? this week's shiur [better known as the 'migdal bavel vort'] introduces our study of sefer breishit by explaining how its "sifrei toladot" help form its structure and develop its theme. We know that the torah tells us, in the verse just prior to this week's torah portion of noach (b'reshit 6,9 – 11,32), that "noach found favor hebrew: ḥen in g d's eyes." the same word, ḥen, is also used in the sefer yetzirah regarding the shabbat.
