Nist Disaster Resilience Program
Nist Disaster Resilience Program Nist A brief look at the nist disaster resilience program and how it will help communities plan for and act to keep windstorms, floods, earthquakes, sea level rise, industrial mishaps and other hazards from inflicting disastrous consequences. Nist performs technical studies in the aftermath of disaster and failure events to derive lessons learned and to recommend needed changes to codes, standards, and practices that will improve the safety and performance of buildings and infrastructure.
Disaster Resilience Research Grants Nist Learn about previous investments in the program and nsf activities for disaster risk and resilience. The nist community resilience program works closely with nist’s disaster and failures studies (dfs) program to develop dfs expertise and metrology that support validation of community resilience tools as part of dfs investigative studies. Develop an integrated, multi scale, computational modeling environment (nist core) for community systems to support development of new standards and tools for assessment and decision making. “our partnership with nist accelerates the novel ideas and approaches we support into planning, building codes and decision making — strengthening our nation’s resilience to natural hazards.”.

The grant projects are funded through the disaster resilience research grant program, jointly managed by the two agencies. Announces the sunsetting of the joint nsf nist disaster resilience research grants (drrg) program and provides details for an upcoming informational webinar offered by nsf and nist program officers. With this joint solicitation, the nsf and the u.s department of commerce (doc) national institute for standards and technology (nist) call for research proposals to advance fundamental knowledge related to disaster resilience. Nist has both a leadership and research role in the congressionally mandated national windstorm impact reduction program, which brings together multiple agencies to coordinate the government’s approach to disaster events.
