Board Responsibility For Equitable Student Success Why Is This Only four ace up college teams (36 percent of survey respondents) indicated they developed goals for advancing institutionalized equity, which entails developing tools, strategies, and policies to address gaps that impact student success and sustaining equity initiatives across departments. In this final brief, we uplift promising strategies, lessons learned, and recommendations for sustaining this work. these findings are important, as colleges continue to prioritize student success, even amid federal and state policy changes that limit work explicitly focused on advancing equity.

Our Units Division Of Student Affairs And Success Through research, advocacy, policy development, and field engagement, ihep drives systemic change in higher education to advance equitable outcomes and generational impact for communities historically marginalized on the basis of race, ethnicity, or income. This year, our nsse institute team delved into three current student success topics getting attention in higher education – relationship rich education, engaging career experiences, and integrated academic challenge and support. Educational equity remains a critical issue in the u.s., where disparities in access and outcomes exist across socioeconomic, racial, gender, and geographical areas. these inequities influence student success at all levels, from general education to higher education. In this article, we provide four reflective questions and eight measurable indicators to help guide the development and refinement of how equity is being measured. the questions serve as a compass for institutions seeking to better support their stem students.
