Natural Hazards Center Weather Ready Research New Studies To The natural hazards center is excited to announce the release of the first research reports from the weather ready research award program. the program funds quick response research to help strengthen community preparedness for extreme weather, water, and climate events. This study seeks to (1) evaluate the procedures and decisions made by electric utilities during winter storm uri, and (2) provide a set of recommendations to improve the resilience of energy systems in preparation for future extreme weather events.

Weather ready research reports capture perishable data on recent events. all analysis is preliminary. the fifth call for weather ready research was focused on inland flooding in the united states. We will assess federal baer documents for weather ready guidance, conduct geospatial analysis of weather ready mitigations across southwestern fires, and interview federal and non federal partners to understand how weather responsive actions are implemented in southwestern burned areas. Participate in an online forum designed to share key research findings and lessons learned from weather ready research. the forum will be hosted by the natural hazards center, national oceanic and atmospheric administration, and national science foundation. The latest round of weather ready research invites previously funded scholars to extend and translate their research findings, published data, or instruments into new tools, technologies, or trainings to communicate about extreme weather. check out these upcoming projects!.
