Natural Disasters Project Science Middle School By Teach To Dream Students are introduced to our planet's structure and its dynamic system of natural forces through an examination of the natural hazards of earthquakes, volcanoes, landslides, tsunamis, floods and tornadoes, as well as avalanches, fires, hurricanes and thunderstorms. Divide the students into groups and provide them with a natural disaster scenario (flood, forest fire, earthquake). each group must analyze the map of the affected area, identify safe escape routes, and meeting points. Through this anchoring phenomenon, students think about ways to detect tsunamis, warn people, and reduce damage from the wave. as students design solutions to solve this problem, they begin to wonder about the natural hazard itself: what causes it, where it happens, and how it causes damage. This lesson plan aims to teach students about natural disasters through vocabulary building, reading, writing, and speaking activities.

Now, we have eight natural disasters to get through: earthquakes, volcanoes, hurricanes, tornadoes, wildfires, droughts, and landslides. that’s quite a list, so let’s not waste any time!. Create a presentation to teach your classmates about one type of natural disaster; how it forms, how to forecast it (if possible), and how to stay safe before, during, and after the event. Investigate climate, weather patterns, and natural disasters. discover the perfect middle school science experiment in this huge collection of age appropriate science investigations. This is a simulation game where you need to try and reduce the damage of an imminent flood by building housing, hospitals and schools in areas with smaller risk.
