Launched in 2021, this initiative recognizes natcco cooperatives that champion sustainable and climate responsive practices, in line with sdg 13: co ops for climate action. applications are now open to cooperatives integrating environmental responsibility into their programs and services.
Natcco Climate Action Program The award aims to encourage more cooperatives to integrate climate action in their core programs and to influence the cooperative sector in the philippines to be at the forefront of the climate action agenda of the country. it is part of the co ops for sdg 13: climate action campaign of natcco. The climate action training was a valuable experience for st. vincent co op. the knowledge and skills acquired will enable us to play a more active role in addressing climate change and building a sustainable future for our cooperative and the community it serves. The three day training provided a meaningful space to deepen understanding of climate change, its impacts on cooperative operations, and the vulnerable sectors most affected—such as small scale farmers, women, youth, indigenous peoples, and ethnic minorities. This training marks the second iteration of the partnership between natcco and ica ap in their women in climate action program, generously supported by japan's consumers cooperative union. bhutan, having achieved its goal of carbon neutrality, is an ideal location for this training. The national confederation of cooperatives (formerly known as national association of training centers for cooperatives or natcco) was formed by cooperators who believe that the task of coop development lays primarily in the hands of the private sector.
