Nasa Genelab Omics Database For Spaceflight Experiments
Genelab Omics Database For Spaceflight Experiments Nasa The genelab data system (glds) is an open access database with curated ‘omics (epigenomics, genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics) data, detailed metadata, and radiation dosimetry data for a variety of model organisms. In this article, we describe the structure and content of the glds and the on going work in creating a centralized system for spaceflight relevant omics data storage, analysis and visualization. genelab has emerged as an omics data archive that is accepted by the space biology community.
Genelab Omics Database For Spaceflight Experiments Nasa We review the outreach efforts by genelab to utilize the spaceflight data in the repository to generate novel discoveries and develop new hypotheses, including spearheading data analysis working groups, and a high school student training program. Genelab is the first comprehensive omics database for space related research from which an investigator can generate hypotheses to direct future experiments, utilizing both ground and space biological radiation data. This site consolidates data from the ames life sciences data archive (alsda) and genelab and includes information about the broader nasa open science and open data initiatives, all at one centralized location. The genelab project is part of an effort from nasa to optimize scientific return of investment (roi) on any experimental payload and democratize the access to the vast amounts of omics (e.g. genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics) data produced from such specimens.

Results the genelab data system (glds) is an open access database containing fully coordinated and curated "omics" (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics) data, detailed metadata and radiation dosimetry for a variety of model organisms. Check out genelab’s data repository for more than 200 space related omics datasets. download & analyze these datasets to reveal how the critical aspects of spaceflight — microgravity, radiation, and a closed loop environment — contribute to gene expression changes. Genelab is nasa’s first comprehensive open access platform for storing, sharing, and analyzing omics data from spaceflight and related experiments. Genelab ensures prompt release and open access to all high throughput omics data from spaceflight and ground based simulations of microgravity and radiation.
