Multiple Disk Failures Cause General Support Unraid
Multiple Disk Failures Cause General Support Unraid Hi all, a couple of days ago, i had a disk failure disk 5 was disabled. no problem, installed a new drive and went to rebuild, but it was estimated to take 180 days. i checked my disk logs and found disk 3 was coming up with a bunch of io errors. i cancelled that and changed out the cables and. If you have 1 parity drive you can restore a single disk. if you have 2 parity drives, you can restore 2. if you have a single parity and 2 data disks fail, all the data on both of those will be gone.
Multiple Disk Failures Cause General Support Unraid I’m using unraid 7 currently and have been using my system for nearly 9 years. recently, i’ve been having disk errors that are repeating and need some help to fine tune how i should diagnose the cause of this. It started with an issue disk5 and i'm pretty sure this a cable controller issue, but then i messed up. i replaced the failed drive with a spare one, but during the rebuild, i tested the drive and cable. it froze the server and i had to reboot (after waiting a while) as a result, the 2 parity drives and another disk failed !!!. Since i lost 4 disks due to a faulty cable that apparently burned them (the are totally dead and unusable in any way) now i would like to rebuilt at least the 2 disks that are still considered missing by the system (the other two are not even mentioned anymore in the array device list). Hello, i am seeking advice on how to proceed. i've got one disk with the red x, and another that is reporting failing in less than 24 hours. i've attached diagnostics. do i shut down completely until new disks arrive? tower diagnostics 20240323 0926.zip.

Good day everybody, yesterday i had a double disk failure (diagnostic attached) and after a smart extended self test on both disks i got the same result: completed without error. Yesterday my server emailed me saying it had array errors, 3 disks with read errors (parity disk, parity disk 2, and disk 3). it disabled the parity drive as well as disk 3, but things kept running. i was thinking the chances of three drives having errors all at once out of nowhere seemed a bit low, so i doubted it was actually bad drives. One of my parity drives shows smart errors and eventually failed. the error was the attribute disk shift it had a fairly high count of around 500,000. after pre clearing, i assigned the new drives to the two array slots. after rebooting, i also had another drive showing data corruption. i was able to run fsdisk repair, and brought it back. Unsure and panicking at this point, i've replaced sata cables and made sure everything is connected properly. started the server, unassigned the parity drive from the array and ran preclear and left the machine (yes, all of my drives were precleared before).
