Maths Week Preparation William Davis Primary School Join schools from right across the country as we attempt to find an approximation for pi – by dropping things! a superb new free maths trail resource has been designed by tom briggs and we are looking to distribute it into museums, libraries, schools and any other educational institutions. In 2021 it became the largest national maths festival in the world. here are some activities you can set in class to celebrate maths week and make learning mathematics fun. During the week, we featured tasks for upper primary and lower secondary students each weekday, which are linked below. student solutions were published at the end of the week. The sumdog competition between our classes here at william davis and between other schools nearby as part of london maths week started today and finishes next thursday. Each lesson is made up of whole class counting, an opportunity for children to do mental maths (independent starter), teacher lead introduction, group activities and a plenary to assess learning. Teachers set weekly activities from the toolkit for families to complete together in a maths scrapbook. They are given a range of hands on activities to complete, using their maths knowledge to help the half moon team solve a weekly mystery. it is a fun experience that we are lucky enough to engage with every week.
