Manchester Engineering Campus Development Bdp Construction of the largest home for engineering in any uk university. manchester engineering campus development (mecd) provides world class sustainable research facilities, alongside flexible and innovative teaching and learning spaces for 8,000 students, staff and academics. It is home to four of the university’s engineering schools and two research institutes from the faculty of engineering and physical sciences. the buildings include extensive, modern teaching spaces that reflect the changing demands of students and staff for mobile and flexible learning.
Manchester Engineering Campus Development Bdp Construction of the largest home for engineering in any uk university has been completed. with the conclusion of the base build phase, the manchester engineering campus development (mecd) was handed over to the university of manchester on friday, 14 may 2021. The build – due to open in 2020 – is part of the university’s campus master plan to create a world leading teaching, learning and research campus to develop the engineers and innovators of tomorrow. The development hosts a wide range of flexible hi specification laboratories and lecture spaces, incorporating blended learning facilities, workshops and a ‘maker space’ where students will see their engineering creations come to life. A world class, integrated engineering campus providing 75,000m2 of sustainable, flexible, innovative teaching spaces to support world leading research and learning for more than 8,000 students and staff.
