Khwai Development Trust Ncongo Magotho campsite (khwai community campsite) is located 20 kilometres east of the khwai village along the main moremi savuti road. the 15 campsites are lying in the shade of camelthorn tress which grow abundantly in this area. the camp ground is divided into a northern and a southern part. We arrived at this campsite after a very exciting drive next to the khwai river for 1 1 2 hours to get to the most amazing campsite with big trees and lots of game everywhere and not a single other person in sight. Large shaded campsites along the northern edge of the khwai river, with 100m in between sites. 4x4 and tent camper obviously needed. no shop, be self sufficient. last fuel from the south is maun, and muchenje if coming over savuti. Wilderness, magotho camping sites offers an experience of rare authenticity—where silence is profound, landscapes are evocative, and nature unfolds in its most unadulterated form. here, beneath canopies of ancient acaccia trees and skies painted in hues of dusk, one encounters not merely a destination, but a deeply restorative.

The campsite is situated along the main moremi – savuti road. the campsite derives its name from the setswana of camel thorn, these threes provide shade to the campsites. Mogotho campsite is brilliant for wildlife viewing, in our experience better than in chobe or moremi parks proper. we have seen lion, wild dog, eagle and huge elephant numbers from the campsite. the local area is fantastic for game. Magotho camp is a kwai community campsite run by locals, and it was here that we stayed for three nights. we delve into the camp and our experiences in more detail below. Within khwai concession we camped for two nights at magotho campsite (also known as khwai community camp). the night before we stayed at south gate in moremi, and after spending the morning in the national park, we arrived at our campsite in khwai around lunchtime.
