Macheia Weaving Motion
Macheia Weaving Motion “weaving motion” is a site specific installation that captures the nature of morel milano while reflecting on the importance of passed down knowledge. inside one of the site’s architectures, macheia recreated a loom, the most ancient mechanism to produce a weaved surface. During “weaving motion” visitors were invited to observe an ancient weaving technique and witness how the installation evolved over time, materializing the permanent evolution of the space and its innovative alternatives for the future.".
Macheia Work Materia is a conversation around an ancient weaving technique that produces fiber based surfaces facilitated by a loom. a loom is a system of weights, vertical and horizontal axes. In order to interlace these yarns, basic weaving mechanism involves primary motions, secondary motions and and stop motions. the primary motion includes shedding, picking, and beat up, whereas the secondary motions are warp let off and cloth take up. Basic weaving principles include primary motions (shedding, weft insertion, beat up), secondary motions (warp let off, fabric take up), and auxiliary motions (warp and weft stop mechanisms) which ensure consistent and high quality fabric production.
