Lt230 Input Gear Again Defender Source Forum I have a set of bearings in hand that i can throw on the input gear, but i'm kinda afraid that the other bearings in the case might be in bad shape. so should i replace the bearings and try driving it?. As it's a suffix a box, ashcroft helpfully informs me that there's no cross drilled gear available but an oil feed plate can be fitted instead. however, as far as i can tell, the oil feed plate and pto fitment are incompatible.

Changing Lt230 Gear Ratio Question Defender Source Forum Dial indicators and bases are dirt cheap. you don’t need starrett for an lt230. an lt230 is about as easy to rebuild as things come. not sure what the input gear costs, but i’d at least take it apart and see what the issues are. it could be a fun exercise just to learn how to rebuild one. It took me 15 minutes to pull the gear off, so i will just make it a check item each oil change (maybe each second oil change) and see how things go. prolonging a rebuild will be good. When i replaced the input gear bearings on my lt230 i found that i didn't need to adjust the shimming at all i got the standard sized shim from land rover and measured it all up as per the manual and the shim i worked out that i needed happened to be the one that came out. My land rover is a hybrid built from scratch with a richards race frame, defender truck cab and discovery 1 running gear. it runs a zf 4 speed auto with lt230 transfer box.
