Lt230 Fill Plug Defender Source Forum Hello, i’m new here and a new owner of a 1994 nas d90. my first defender, after discos for the past 20 years. i’ve searched and couldn’t find, hoping. I loosened the filler plug (behind the transmission drum as i have done on scores of similar vehicles) and crawled out to fill my gear oil dispenser. upon returning, i found a small pool of oil on the floor so i put a container underneath the vehicle and removed the filler plug.
Wiring Assistance Defender Source Forum These brass plugs with the small allen key screw in the middle come with the kit. the idea is that by fitting this plug and checking the oil level at the allen screw level your box will have about 1 2 1l of oil in addition to the usual box volume. this is so the overdrive has enough lubrication. Renew part: transfer case fill plug washer quantity: 1. install and tighten the transfer case filler plug. 5. clean the area around the filler plug, wipe away any excess fluid and remove the container. 6. install the left undershield. I pretty much finished rebuilding my lt230 and wanted to share a few tips for anyone looking to rebuild their case. the job isn’t particularly difficult but it did take some effort to clean everything and it does require a few speciality tools, which is where the tips come in. Note the location of the drain plug and fill plug with yellow markings. shown above, the main input shaft (ftc5089) of the lt230 takes the drive from gearbox main shaft to transfer box. I have late suffix g (37g) lt230 1:22 ratio transfers box from a discovery (with difflock function on the box) that has been modified for use in my mid 1990's 300tdi defender. Transfer case adaptor lt230. the 4l80 e is a 4 speed overdrive transmission. they are fitted behind the current chevy v8 petrol and diesel efi engines.
