Ls Swapped Mkiii Page 2 Supra Forums Have two ls swapped vehicles one 4l80e and one 6l90e both are near stock dd class rides. from that perspective the 4l shifts great with only a few tweaks. 6l takes a lot more to get shift quality and schedule where it belongs; even then it's hard to get the same crisp, clean shifts of a 4l80e. I'm using the factory 1988 toyota lsd that came in my car which should be 3.91 gears. the car was originally a turbo automatic. yup, the firewall required quite a bit of massaging with a hammer for the bellhousing to fit. i even had to hammer in areas for the headers to clear. I don't want to go ls because i want to stay toyota, and it is a very common swap. can't tell you how many 240's, civics, supras, rx7's i've seen in the past few months in my local area for sale. I wanted to swap in a 2jz and t56 magnum but since the mk2 supra has a notoriously weak gearbox, differential, and stub axles, i had to find a solution that was going to work regardless of power level. I just got a 84 t type i’m ls swapping. it has 100k miles, seems to run and shift fine but i think the torq converter is shot. im thinking of selling the drivetrain instead of scraping it like i. I just tracked one locally from a supra rebuilder that i knew really well when i used to own my supra. he gave me a good deal on his last one because he loved my supra so much lol.
