Internship summary: this internship will focus on policy issues and advocacy related to cook inlet oil & gas, mining impacts to wildlands and salmon habitat, and climate action for resilient local communities and economies.
Local Resilience Inletkeeper These efforts threaten to silence local voices and put profits above the health of the people, salmon, and waters that define our region. with your support, inletkeeper will continue to stand guard. across the inlet, people like you are standing up to protect the places we love. Climate change can be confronted with local action, & every community has a part to play. inletkeeper has created a guide for seeking and carrying out climate actions that are impactful where you live and achievable with the resources your community has. At inletkeeper, we’re committed to building climate resilient local communities through a variety of core strategies, including: supporting community led climate solutions that make a measurable impact on reducing emissions and create unstoppable momentum. The intern will assist in inletkeeper’s field work to understand patterns of increasing water temperatures, which creates stress in salmon making them more vulnerable to pollution, predation and disease.
Local Resilience Inletkeeper At inletkeeper, we’re committed to building climate resilient local communities through a variety of core strategies, including: supporting community led climate solutions that make a measurable impact on reducing emissions and create unstoppable momentum. The intern will assist in inletkeeper’s field work to understand patterns of increasing water temperatures, which creates stress in salmon making them more vulnerable to pollution, predation and disease. We focus on three main program areas: salmon habitat to protect healthy salmon habitat and clean water, energy transition to accelerate the transition to an an equitable, decarbonized energy future, and local resilience to build climate resilient local communities. In 2019, cook inletkeeper decided to play a direct role in cultivating hope and empowering local climate action. our key issues: protecting clean water and healthy salmon – depend on us reversing global warming. for real impact, our solutions need to be actionable, inclusive, and alaskan. We support, vision with, and want our dollars to go to gardeners who have a bumper crop, or are growing more than they need, and alaska food hub wants established and new farmers to be able to count on our service as a viable sale avenue to incorporate into their business plan. Cook inletkeeper is helping lead that charge through our local solutions effort — practical, people powered actions that strengthen the resilience of our watershed’s lands, waters, and communities.
