The Lisa Project

The Lisa Project Lisa spacecraft orbitography and interferometer – yearly periodic revolution in heliocentric orbit. the lisa mission's primary objective is to detect and measure gravitational waves produced by compact binary systems and mergers of supermassive black holes. The laser interferometer space antenna (lisa) is a large scale space mission designed to detect one of the most elusive phenomena in astronomy – gravitational waves.

The Lisa Project Nasa is seeking applicants for positions on the lisa science team, a community body which will support the esa and nasa project teams through the development and opertions of the lisa mission. Esa's laser interferometer space antenna (lisa) will be the first space based observatory dedicated to studying gravitational waves: ripples in the fabric of space time emitted during the most powerful events in the universe, such as pairs of black holes coming together and merging. Lisa is a space mission led by esa with contributions from nasa and many esa member states. lisa will observe gravitational waves in space with three satellites connected by laser beams forming a constellation in a heliocentric orbit. Lisa is an esa (european space agency) led mission in partnership with nasa. the trio of spacecraft is designed to detect and measure gravitational waves, ripples in the fabric of space time produced by systems such as binary white dwarfs and merging massive black holes.

The european space agency (esa) has signed off on the laser interferometer space antenna (lisa) mission to detect gravitational waves from space. the plan is to send three spacecraft, trailing the earth as it orbits the sun, forming a highly accurate equilateral triangle in space. The lisa mission, led by the european space agency (esa), is a global collaboration that brings together esa, its member countries, nasa, and a worldwide team of scientists known as the lisa consortium. With lisa we will be able to observe the entire universe directly with gravitational waves, learning about the formation of structure and galaxies, stellar evolution, the early universe, and the structure and nature of spacetime itself. Lisa is a large class mission to detect elusive ripples in spacetime. from its vantage point in space, lisa will capture gravitational waves of lower frequencies than is possible from earth, uncovering events of a different scale – all the way back to the dawn of time.
