Laserdisc Setup Progress R Laserdisc Seeing that apparently nobody else has come up with the idea, i decided to create a discord server for laserdisc enthusiasts of all ages. this server is neither meant nor intended to be a replacement to any laserdisc forums, but i thought it would be convenient for people who browse the subreddit. I'll let others speak further to this, but since laserdisc is native composite, but in my opinion, you have nothing to gain by converting (thereby splitting) the signal into s video, especially since you're doing it by running it through the vcr. It’s a good rule of thumb to avoid laserdiscs dated 1984 and older unless you can demo it and see that it’s still playable. by 1982 most discs were clv, up to 1 hour per side, more about clv later. On the very last day of 2022, i made a considerable update to my home theater. i bought a laserdisc player. yes, the optical disc home video format that pre dates our website here is finally part of my setup, and was interestingly never part of my life even growing up. The video on a laserdisc is composite, so it’s rarely beneficial to use anything greater even if your player does support it. it’s been decades since i had a tv with a comb filter that didn’t outperform the one on my ld player. Hello, so just got my laserdisc player working. and my father in law kindly gifted around 50 laserdiscs (true lies, alien, pulp fiction, titanic and more, mostly widescreen and action movies). My current goal is to hook up my laserdisc player to a crt projector and enjoy the hits of the 80s and early to mid 90s in their most pristine form.
