Justice Defenders A movement transforming justice systems from the inside out. we provide legal education within prisons in uganda and kenya, equipping people in prison and prison staff to become paralegals and lawyers who secure fair hearings for all. Justice defenders is a uk charity and us nonprofit that works in prison communities across africa. it provides legal education, training, and practice to prisoners and prison staff, and partners with academic institutions to offer law degrees.

Since 2018, we’ve provided free legal advice to 170,000 people in prison without access to justice, securing the release of 69,000 people and reuniting them with their families and communities . The justice defenders program assists legal professionals by observing judicial selection and removal proceedings to ensure that they are merit based in addition to encouraging the independence of the judiciary.
