I asked readers to challenge my argument in my latest article here on substack. so far i’ve been shown two papers that provide a counterpoint to what i said. this is what i love about this space for historians: we can undertake the debate and disagreement that is core to the historian’s craft. I plan to work on longer projects this year — a new book and reported features, including for this substack, this bizarre platform, also funded by tech fascists, which for now offers a decent perch from which to reach people.
