Dry Sump System For The Bmw S85 V10 Engine We're super excited about getting the v10 engine back in my e46 m3 after fitting the amazing vac motorsports s85 dry sump kit in the last episode. As the title states, the plan is to stuff a v10 in my m3. this will be the first time i've documented a build, and i fully intend on taking my time on this one. the goal for this car is to keep it every bit street ready e46 m3 as possible, but with 10 cylinders of power.
Dry Sump System For The Bmw S85 V10 Engine You can get the engine pretty far back without a dry sump. the steering shaft goes through header primaries so you can't use a stock header and a stock steering shaft even with a dry sump and a stock firewall that i can see. In the spring of 2013 i noticed the lower rear trailing arm ball joints (part 3 below) had gone bad. while replacing the lower joint it also makes sense to replace the upper joint as well (part 2 below). So i'm going to part out everything else like i planned on in order to break even on the purchase of the car, but at that point as long as i've recouped my 7k, then i don't see any harm in hanging on to a 33k mile s85 that works, assuming i will one day swap it. Instead they swapped a 5.0 l s85 v10 from a bmw e60 m5. manhart increased the motor’s output to 560 hp (411 kw) and 550 nm (405 lb ft) of torque. the v10’s sound is accentuated by custom stainless steel headers and a titanium exhaust.
