Freedoom Linux Channel Freedoom is one of the best android ports of the game. it demonstrates good performance, an easy to use resource manager, lots of graphical and gameplay tweaks, and, most importantly, a comfortable and highly customizable control scheme that includes controller support. It's not really about being better. freedoom is just a completely different campaign with completely different levels. so my answer is yes buy classic doom and yes download and play freedoom. if you use gzdoom to play them they both run the same.

As enthusiastic as i am about the freedoom project, being a gnu linux user and supporting free software, i feel there are a lot of problems with it from both a gameplay and design standpoint. firstly, from my own experience, the game just doesn't feel as fun or as satisfying to play as regular doom. Yes, it isn’t perfect – i experienced a couple of crashes and there are some difficulty spikes in the later levels – but it is still an incredibly fun and fairly well designed game. it’s the sort of game you can mindlessly enjoy for five minutes or seriously sink a couple of hours into at a time.
