Ironworkers 5 About Apprenticeship Chartered in 1901, ironworkers local union #5 currently represents more than 1,000 ironworkers in the heart of our nations’ capital. we represent journeymen, apprentices and retirees from the district of columbia, delaware, maryland, virginia and west virginia. We represent ironworkers who work on bridges, structural steel, ornamental, architectural and miscellaneous metals, rebar and in shops. across north america, we build. and we build safely and skillfully, getting the job done right and on time. we provide many benefits and support for our members.
