Solved Custom View Orientation Problem Inventor 2018 Autodesk Community Inventor default drawing views (front, back, ) are not fulfill my drawing dimensionless to show some angle features of my part. in this case i need to custom defined coordinate plane and orient and save the view for drafting. Sometimes i'll work with an .ipt or .iam file that has not been drawn on planes that make sense for drawing views. it's a hassle to place drawing views by going back and forth to the file and re orienting to what i want, then selecting "current" for my drawing view. Since you're building a configurator, are you perhaps using some custom placement transformation when placing the model into the viewer? if so, you may need to adjust the orientation yourself. To break the orientation inheritance, double click a child view. open the display options tab in the drawing view dialog box, and clear the orientation from base box.

When assembliying model with numerous parts, sometimes happens when my inventor setting an exotic coordinate system. for example rotate around x axis 23.15 degrees and y axis 39.417 degrees. The problem originated with the part orientation to the part origin. the solution to this problem is to escape out of the dimension command, place your cursor over the drawing view and right click. on the context menu, look for the "general dimension type" and change it from "true" to "projected".
