Intersectional Gender Integration In Research For Development To address intersectional gender issues in research, researchers need to apply an intersectional lens in their analysis and development of research problems, the identification of research subjects, and degree of disaggregated data needed. This poster highlights the necessary principles and phases for gender integration in the research for development (r4d) project cycle.

Gendered innovations employs methods of sex, gender, and intersectional analysis to overcome past bias and, importantly, to create new knowledge. it seeks to harness the creative power of sex, gender, and intersectional analysis for innovation and discovery. The findings offer insights for science education and policy initiatives seeking to standardise sex, gender, and intersectional analysis in research through targeted training and mentorship. In this module, experts speak on how researchers can integrate sex, gender, and intersectional analysis into the design of their research, where relevant, can lead to discovery and improved research methodology.

Iom intersectional gender analysis toolkit (iom, forthcoming 2024) provides guidance, tools and resources for conducting gender analysis with an intersectional lens for pro gramming, policymaking and strategy across the humanitarian peace development nexus. As the projects neared completion, forty researchers from these interdisciplinary teams met in november 2022 to share experiences, discuss challenges, and consider the best ways forward to incorporate sex and gender in research. Although an intersectional gender lens may be incorporated throughout the ir cycle, it should be incorporated as early as possible, such as during the study problem identification and proposal development phases.
