This paper, produced by members of the global future council on data equity, proposes a data equity definition and framework for inquiry that spurs ongoing dialogue and continuous action towards implementing data equity in organizations. Our economic mobility and opportunity team works with local and state governments and policymakers, small and medium sized businesses, community and advocacy organizations, funders, and researchers to help increase long term economic security for people earning low incomes. Data equity seeks to address historical and current imbalances in the use and access of datasets in various domains and for decision making in algorithmic and ai systems and their societal impact.
