Ineos Hydrogen
Hydrogen Globally, greenhouse gas emissions must be substantially cut to meet net zero targets. hydrogen as a fuel is central to achieving these goals. it is a game changing source of energy that can be used as both a raw material for industry and a power source for transport and the home. Ineos is europe’s largest operator of industrial electrolysis, the technology necessary to produce renewable hydrogen, and we are growing our business by investing into water electrolysis capacity for renewable hydrogen production across europe.
Our Credentials Ineos is europe’s largest existing operator of electrolysis, the critical technology which uses renewable energy to produce hydrogen for power generation, transportation and industrial use. Green hydrogen innovation centre, an initiative from international solar alliance , the mission is to provide a one stop platform that consolidates and disseminates the latest advancements, insights, and resources related to green hydrogen. Ineos automotive’s hydrogen fuelled grenadier demonstrator makes its global debut at this year’s goodwood festival of speed. the 4x4 emits nothing but water vapour and demonstrates ineos’s belief that hydrogen is a key fuel of the future. Should legislation change to accept that electric cars are not a one size fits all solution for future powertrains, a production version of the ineos grenadier hydrogen prototype it has created.

Ineos cites the high cost of extracting the earth's most abundant element and a lack of hydrogen refuelling stations, especially in the uk, as obstacles to the development of cars deemed. Ineos is uniquely placed to develop hydrogen as an alternative fuel. in july 2021 ineos energy completed on a cornerstone investment of 25 million shares in the hydrogenone capital fund. the company is the first london listed investment fund dedicated to clean hydrogen. Ineos has today announced that it is to invest more than €2 billion into electrolysis projects to make zero carbon, green hydrogen across europe. its first plants will be built in norway, germany and belgium with investment also planned in the uk and france. Today ineos produces around 400,000 tonnes of hydrogen a year with new electrolysis projects across norway, germany, belgium, and future plants planned in the uk and france. as both a user and producer of hydrogen, it puts us in a unique position at the heart of europe’s hydrogen transformation.
