I've done a number of engine swaps (not on a vette) and am very handy with a wrench. i have a hoist, stand, tools, etc. i might even have access to a lift at a friends shop, but not a guarantee. that said, i'm going to be pulling the engine in my '06 a6 and replacing it next week probably. what's the easiest way?. As this is my first approach to a corvette i've been searching for information about how to remove the engine from top. the engine will be disassembled anyways as it has a spun bearing, so there is no problem in removing heads or anything else if necessary. Auto's are easier to do, because it's easier to line up the spline shaft for the torque tube. basically, disconnect the battery, drain all of the fluids. pull out the radiator and fan assembly. if you're going to drop it out the bottom, disconnect the shocks front spring and upper control arms.
