As someone who doesn't shade their comic at all, it works for me? you just have to be strategic with your color selection. start putting your comic in greyscale to check and make sure your tones aren't too similar and it should work out fine. i also add a noise filter to create some variety. I typed in ‘ shading ‘ and half of what i found was guidance about rendering techniques. in other words, adding the finer nuances of shading to your drawing. 99% of artists don’t need to worry about rendering in fine detail yet and maybe that is you too. By habit, i always make my light source come from my right, so that most of the shading i do is on the left. so you don't gotta do the right if you don't want to, but that's what i'm gonna do for this tutorial.
