Howe Ruth Bridgewater Historical Society The bridgewater historical society was organized in 1928 by descendants of the first families to settle in the town. the purpose of the society is to make the colorful past of the town as widely know as possible, and to preserve its historical memorabilia. Members would write articles about cambridge history and present them at meetings held in private homes and on the harvard university campus. between 1906 and 1979, these lectures were published as the proceedings of the cambridge historical society.
