Starting in 2009, the valve team working on tf2 would release "meet the team" [2] animations. each animation introduced each of the 9 characters and these animations would go on to gain massive popularity, greatly boosting tf2's popularity. Did this based off the slam dunk poster, thought would go hard if it was tf2, and so i did it (also started using sfm recently so still new to it don't know how to animate yet just doing poses and images for now maybe someday i'll get to the point where i can animate using sfm). Tf2 is released later on, with its incredibly quirky characters and being another source game it's no wonder gmod videomakers jumped on it. and as the game exploded in popularity these people only grew more popular and inspired new content creators.
