Home Medewsa Eu Specifically, medewsa will deliver a sophisticated, comprehensive, and innovative pan european–mediterranean–african solution comprising a range of complementary services. building on existing tools medewsa will develop a fully integrated impact based multi hazard ews. The mediterranean and pan european forecast and early warning system against natural hazards (medewsa) project will deliver sophisticated, comprehensive, and innovative solutions, comprising a range of complementary services. It directly contributes to the united nations’ sustainable development goals, to improve the european union’s competitiveness and growth, and to protect citizens of the eu and beyond. medewsa includes pilot sites, organized in four ‘twins’, to foster collaboration and demonstrate the transferability of its tools. Create a suite of comprehensive ai based products, building on operational ews and insights from medewsa’s four paired twin pilot sites, that bridge areas with different climatic and geographic conditions but similar hazardous events, to deliver innovative forecasting and impact assessment services.

Medewsa is a three year project (2023 2026) funded by the horizon europe program and coordinated by the world meteorological organization, involving 30 european and non european partners, including italiameteo agency. Medewsa will deliver a sophisticated, comprehensive, and innovative pan european–mediterranean–african solution comprising a range of complementary services. building on existing tools medewsa will develop a fully integrated impact based multi hazard ews. Geographical coverage across wmo regions i (africa) and vi (europe), with a focus on the mediterranean (southern europe, north africa). The project is funded by horizon europe, has a consortium of about 30 partners, and aims to strengthen the capacity against climate related risks for first responders and risk management board.
